FAQ
Here are some frequently asked questions (FAQs) to help you better understand our services and policies. Q: How do you take payment? A: Cash is the preferred method of payment, however I do take, checks, Venmo, or card via a pay link through this website. Any card and Venmo transactions will have an additional 5% fee to cover the fees associated with online banking systems. If you prefer either of those online banking systems, I will send those links via email or text, depending on your preference. ------- Q: What is your recommended pathway through your courses for those who are passionate about all things horses. A: For ages 7+ I recommend starting out with participating in an Equine Encounter to get to meet me and the horses, see if my program is right for you, and learn a few basics to know if you are really interested in pursuing horses. Horse life can be difficult and often is a long game, so you need to know that you are passionate before you dive in. After your Equine Encounter, I recommend going through the Horse Handling Course. In the Horse Handling Course, you will learn to become proficient at the standard handling skills you need to have to care for horses, whether you own them or work at a barn. These skills are incredibly handy when learning to ride as you will have build up your confidence and a good foundation going into riding. It also prepares you for your future in the equestrian world. I do recommend completing at least 24 hours of Horse Handling so that you can build up those skills properly, however some people pick it up quicker, and some like to have more time to feel confident in their horse handling skills. ------- Q: Do you have any ponies available to be ridden? A: At the current moment, I do not have any riding lesson ponies. This may change in the future. Ponies do have a lower weight limit due to their smaller size. ----- Q: Do you have a weight limit for riders? A: Yes, due to the size of the current lesson horses, I do have a 215lb rider limit for the safety and longevity of the horses. Horses should only carry 20% of their healthy weight or less in both rider and tack. Hopefully this limit will be able to be raised in the near future, but this is the current maximum. There's still plenty of other non-mounted activities to do with horses offered if there is not a horse suitable for you, just please be honest for the sake of the horses. Additionally, I only have 2 horses suited for lessons that are capable of the 215, so if you are coming as a group, I ask that you be mindful of that. All lesson horses are capable of 175lbs.
